The Name is a Clever Wordplay
The name Netaville is a hybrid of Net (representing Netcetera and the internet/digital world) and Ville (French for city or town). The concept was to create a micro-city or a vibrant village green for tech enthusiasts, creatives, and local citizens to meet, collaborate, and share ideas.
It Bridged the Swiss-Macedonian Tech Connection
While Netcetera is headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, Skopje is its largest engineering hub. Netaville was built to celebrate this connection. It serves as a physical manifestation of Swiss quality and innovation combined with Macedonian talent and hospitality.
It is an Architectural and Urban Rejuvenation Project
Instead of building a sterile, closed-off corporate office, Netcetera transformed an existing building in a prime Skopje location into an open, modern, and eco-friendly space. It features glass walls, open-plan workspaces, and plenty of greenery. It was designed to blend seamlessly into the urban fabric of Skopje, making the street level feel like an extension of the public park space.
It is Democratized and Open to the Public
Unlike most corporate tech hubs that require security badges to enter, Netaville is open to everyone. The ground floor features a trendy community café and bar where anyone can walk in, grab a specialty coffee, and work. It democratizes the tech space, allowing students and freelancers to sit rub-shoulders with senior software architects.
It’s a Cultural Hub, Not Just a Tech Space
Netaville was designed with the philosophy that technology cannot thrive without art and culture. It regularly hosts:
